BENEFITS OF GOUMI FOOTIES
THOUGHTFULLY DESIGNED FOR THE AMONG US
Overdressing baby is a thing?
Babies are born with built-in temperature control - but only in their necks, some parts of their legs and abdomen - called brown fat. When overdressed, brown fat doesn’t activate and eventually goes away. But if dressed properly, brown fat keeps them warm and helps reduce both illnesses and obesity.
Not a fan! :(
While the pattern is gorgeous and the material is of a high quality, I found the sizing to be so strange. My petite 17 month old is busting out of the 18-24 month style, and while I know PJ's are meant to be snug fitting, the issue with this footie is actually the length. My daughter still fits in 12-18 month sleepers from other brands and with this footie, the sleeves dig into her arms - they don't even hit her wrists - and the footie portion will actually never be in use due to scrunched toes. I'm so disappointed as for this price I was hoping she would get more than a handful of wears before being outgrown. Also, I can't be the only one who finds the bum flap really awkward - does anyone actually use this for diaper changes? Finally, the lack of an elongated cuff on the sleeves is not comfortable for my daughter, combined with the above sizing and bum flap issues I found these left a lot to be desired and I'm so glad I only bought one. Never again!
This is a gift for my grandson. He has very sharp fingernails and scratches himself all the time. I bought the mittens because they have a velcro strap to keep them from coming off. I saw the outfit on the site. It is so soft my daughter-in-law loved the back flap and style.
Beautiful but not functional
I love the pattern and the softness of the fabric, but I've been disappointed with the functionality, or lack thereof. I was excited about using the bum flap for diaper changes in the colder months because it would mean exposing less skin to cold air. Unfortunately it takes a lot of yoga (or maybe origami?) to get actual human legs through the opening. I did it once or twice before deciding that the bum flap was just going to be a decorative feature. It would work great for someone who uses the toilet, but my 13 months olds are sadly behind on their potty training game, it would seem. I'm wishing I'd gotten the two way zipper instead of snaps, but I really liked the pattern. I normally avoid snap jammies but figured the bum flap would save me. Alas. The other issue it the feet. The idea sounded perfect - convertible! nonskid! - but the reality leaves something to be desired. My twins are constantly ending up with their feet inside the leg of the jammies, empty foot flaps waving in the wind. One morning I heard a distressed yell and discovered that one of my babies had somehow gotten her entire leg stuck up inside the pajamas and couldn't move. She was pretty mad about it and I had to undress her to rescue the leg. Bottom line - these are adorable sleepers but haven't worked well at all as playwear. I just don't have the energy for origami or leg rescues these days so I probably won't be buying more of these, which is a bummer because I really did want to love them.
Amazing fabric! Wish I bought sooner
I am a minimalist mama so I dont buy a ton of baby items. I dont mind spending a little extra if its great quality (especially with all the blow outs my baby has). This sleeper washes really well!!! I have put it in the dryer on low and the quality is Just how it came out the package. I bought the pewter (3-6) and midnight (6-9). My baby is 4 months, 17 lbs and 28 inches. The 3-6 fits perfectly but hes going to outgrow it sooooo soon. Good thing I plan on having more babies so I can pass it down. I have a lot of other sleepers and i just love putting him in this one, its so soft and cozy. I also baby wear a lot and you are not supposed to put wear babies with closed toe sleepers, so having the option to have open of closed toe is must for this family.
