Newborn wearing Goumi mitts

You didn’t plan for this beginning. You’re not alone in it.

Nobody plans to have a preemie. When your baby arrives early, the excitement and anticipation of meeting them can suddenly share space with shock, anxiety, and even guilt. You’re learning unfamiliar words, watching monitors, and waiting for answers - all while wanting to do the simplest thing: care for your baby.

We created our preemie collection with those families in mind. To offer essentials made for our tiniest little ones. To help parents find moments of connection in the NICU. And to remind you that, even when your beginning looks different, there is still so much love and meaning here.

Developed with the people who care for tiny babies.

It began with Nurse Adrienne - and a need.

Our preemie story began with Nurse Adrienne and the NICU team at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

Their team was researching how to reduce unplanned extubation - when a baby’s breathing tube accidentally comes out. NICUs were using socks, sometimes secured with tape, to cover little hands and help keep them away from essential tubes. Then the Hershey team found our newborn mitts. They were a little too big for their tiniest patients, so Nurse Adrienne invited us to create a preemie-sized mitt.

Together, we developed preemie and micropreemie mitts using measurements from the NICU, rounds of prototype trials, and feedback from nurses and families. We refined the fit and closures with the people caring for these babies every day.

The Hershey team’s research, published in Pediatrics, the journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics, described how mittens helped keep babies from tugging on their breathing tubes as part of a broader effort to reduce unplanned extubations.

Then other NICUs heard about our mitts. BayCare Health System. Johns Hopkins. NYU.

What began as a collaboration with Nurse Adrienne grew into everyday use in NICUs - small, thoughtfully designed essentials helping care teams protect the little ones entrusted to them.

Then we thought about the rest of the NICU experience—and what else could help.

PREEMIE BOOTS in soft cloud-white fabric with a rounded toe, ankle cuff and adjustable wraparound closure

Boots to help keep tiny feet warm

We knew these little ones needed to stay warm. So we created preemie-sized boots to keep tiny feet cozy, with a gentle fit designed for our smallest babies.

Preemie clothing gives meaning to parents too

Families told us that getting to dress their baby was deeply meaningful. Choosing an outfit could give them back a small piece of parenthood - a decision that belonged to them, a connection to home, and a precious memory in the middle of an unfamiliar experience.

That meaning became part of what we designed for.

And every NICU milestone deserves to be remembered

Parents told us they wanted to remember the milestones their babies were reaching, right in the midst of their NICU experience. So we partnered with Jahje of Baby Jives to create milestone cards—a tangible way to celebrate those moments and hold onto the meaning of their time with their little one.

We listened to the moments parents wanted to remember: the first milk feed. The first cuddle. Gaining weight. Breathing independently. Becoming tube free. Going home.

The back of each card has a lined section where a parent or loved one can write a memory from that day—capturing the moment, the milestone, and what it meant to them.

A way to see and celebrate their little one amid the routines, equipment, and uncertainty.

Their time in the NICU is part of their family’s story. It deserves to hold memories of connection and wonder, too.

Commonly asked questions:

Which size should I choose?

Choose by your baby’s measurements, not just their age. The Cloud Petite / Preemie gown fits babies weighing 3–6 lb and measuring 15–17 inches in length. The Cloud Petite / Preemie boots list a 3–6 lb range; check your baby’s foot measurements against the boot size guide. Mitts have an adjustable closure—check the mitt size guide for fit. Always check the size details for the exact product you’re choosing.

Can my baby wear these in the NICU?

Ask your baby’s care team which clothing and accessories are appropriate for their current stage of care. They can help you choose what works with your baby’s care needs right now.

What are they made from?

Our Cloud preemie mitts, boots, and gowns are made from 70% viscose from bamboo and 30% organic cotton. For other colors and styles, check the fabric details on the individual product page.

How do I wash them?

Cloud preemie mitts, boots, and gowns: machine wash on low or delicate. Dry on gentle/low or line dry. Follow the care label on your item, and ask your NICU care team about any laundering requirements during your baby’s stay.
